University Service & Intercultural Trips
to Costa Rica

OVERVIEW

LOOKING FOR THAT LAST "HURRAH" BEFORE HEADING BACK TO CLASSES?
TRY THIS!

Here is your unmatched opportunity to truly live and experience life in an authentic rural Costa Rican community: you will find yourselves to be the only extranjeros around.

Immerse yourself in Spanish while at the same time engaging with local community through academic enrichment with local elementary school kids.  Truly live rural Tico life and get an intimate look into the less-traveled Northern Central Valley of Costa Rica, a hidden gem often overlooked by tourists, but frequented by locals: home to many beautiful rainforests, waterfalls, rivers, wildlife, and popular Costa Rican produce such as cacao and pineapple.

IT'S LIKE THE BEST PARTS OF A SEMESTER STUDY ABROAD,
ALL PUT INTO AN 8 or 11 DAY TRIP

Live in a combination of rural community cabins and host families, both within the welcoming rural community of La Flor in the cantón of Rio Cuarto.

Engage with the local community daily: youth and adults alike to teach, learn, and share culture

Speak Spanish at all hours of the day as you live amongst Tico families in a community apart from tourists and visit incredible, off-the-beaten-path natural sites

Explore  a biological reserve as it comes alive at sunrise, butterfly garden, Arenal Volcano National Park, mountain waterfalls, the history and process of chocolate, the longest suspension bridge in the region, the rainforest at night, a wild river by boat, and the deepest volcanic lake by kayak.

Learn with hosts who have lived in Costa Rica and studied the flora, fauna and region for years.  Engage in charlas to discover the natural history and wonders of this incredible area!
