High School Educational Trips
Intercultural Exchange
July 24 - 31, 2021
Spend your spring break or a week of your summer having the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live the life of a Tico high school student while also exploring some of the most amazing places in the North Central Region of Costa Rica. Students will spend 7 days living with a host family or in cabins in La Flor, a small community in a valley of Northern Central Costa Rica. Each morning, youth will collaborate on intercultural workshops with a local high school English class (in the nearby community of Rio Cuarto). Each afternoon, students participate in regional tourism outings, including hiking in a Biological reserve, swimming in waterfalls pools, visiting a wildlife reserve, making tamales for a school fundraiser & watching a local soccer tournament, and touring a pineapple or cocoa plantation. In addition, students socialize with their Spanish-speaking host families and engage in community activities in the evening. Providing a comfortable balance of community integration in a rural town and "tourist" time, our student programs:

-
Allow for ample practice of Spanish skills
-
Incorporate volunteerism as a way to both make friendships and give back to the host community
-
Expose students to a different culture, foods and way of life
-
Educate students about local industries
-
Explore regional natural areas to appreciate the flora and fauna of Costa Rica
-
Are coordinated and hosted start to finish by Go Tico! staff
-
Build life-long friendships and life-changing experiences
What Go Tico! Offers
