EXPERIENCE LIFE LIKE A TICO HIGH SCHOOLER

If you are going to travel to another country, why not truly live it?
Go beyond just visiting tourist sites.  On our High School Educational & Intercultural Exchange, Go Tico! connects you with a local high school daily to learn about Tico education, develop friendships with peers, and exchange both cultural and educational experiences.  This is a truly unique chance to spend your Costa Rican days truly meeting students your own age and cultivating an awesome understanding of the country and the culture directly from your own peers!  And, of course,  there will be tons of great opportunities to explore the country as well outside of class.
  • Cultural & Educational Immersion:  Engage in only the fun part of school (no homework, tests or essays!)  Attend half days at a local high school, participating in intercultural activities with Tico peers and developing a    greater understanding of the educational system and Tico kids like you!
  • Language Immersion: While not a Spanish-intensive program, this program gives you the chance to work on your language skills as you live in a small community off the tourist-track.  No tourists reside here, so you will be totally immersed in the local community and language alongside your US peers. Practice as much or as little as you want to build your Spanish confidence.
  • Regional tourism: hike at Arenal Volcano National Park, visit a butterfly garden, explore a biological reserve and cross the longest suspension bridge in the region, take a night hike through the jungle, visit a wildlife refuge at sunrise, explore the Rio Sarapiqui by boat, hike to incredible waterfalls in the mountains, and kayak in the deepest lake in Costa Rica.
  • Local hosts: entire trip is hosted by Go Tico! co-directors Johel Saborio Gonzalez and Sara Bembenek-Saborio
