Travel to Costa Rica with Kids:
Family Intercultural & Biodiversity Excursion
This year has been a wild-ride thus far in regards to travel and time away with family.  We're hopeful that the coming months will provide opportunities for travel and are excited to offer a unique travel experience for families with kids 6+ years old.  Providing an awesome combination of culture, activity, diversity in ecosystems, industry, and flora & fauna, this trip is a great opportunity to explore less-traveled and incredibly beautiful areas in the North Central region of Costa Rica. Designed to be a full 5 day itinerary of hiking, swimming, chocolate-tasting, animal viewing, and more, it provides you the opportunity to extend the trip on either end to add in some of your own travel ideas (of course, we're happy to provide suggestions or aid in planning!)

Itinerary Preview

  • Prior to trip

    • Arrive early and explore Costa Rica on your own or arrive the day before and check in to one of two hotels we book for you for Day 1 morning pick-up

  • Day 1 

    • Go Tico! staff picks you up from one of two Alajuela hotels to start your adventure

    • La Paz Waterfall 

    • Travel to Biological Reserve for daytime chocolate tour and night hike

    • Overnight at Biological Reserve

  • Day 2

    • Hiking in rainforest & suspension bridges at Biological Reserve 

    • Travel to rural community for lunch & community visit with Tico families and students

    • Overnight at thermal waters retreat

  • Day 3 

    • Hiking to & Lunch at waterfall pools for swimming in La Colonia

    • Relaxation & swimming at thermal waters retreat

    • Overnight at thermal waters retreat

  • Day 4

    • Visit & tour of butterfly farm

    • Travel to La Fortuna 

    • Free afternoon in city of La Fortuna

    • Dinner on your own

    • Overnight in La Fortuna

  • Day 5​

    • Morning half-day tour of Volcan Arenal National Park​

    • Final lunch in La Fortuna​

    • Shuttle to Alajuela to airport hotel

      • Depart Costa Rica next day

    • OR continue to explore Costa Rica on your own

Pricing & Registration

Excursion Fee: $1,450 per person

Appropriate for singles, couples or families with children ages 6+

Fee includes:

  • Lodging, five nights

  • All tourism entrance and activity fees

  • All in-country transportation

  • All meals between first full day and lunch of last day unless noted in itinerary

  • Full coordination and hosting by Go Tico! staff 

*Alcohol & additional traveler-selected activities not included

*Go Tico! requires a minimum of 8 travelers to run this trip.
