Spanish & Cultural Immersion in Costa Rica
There is no better way to work on your Spanish than to force yourself to speak it, hear it, live it.  Families, individuals, travel groups, or couples: this trip works for anyone.  Live 1-2 people per home with local families: spending time, playing sports, cooking, you name it, all in Spanish, for seven (7) full days.   Learn to cook traditional Costa Rican meals in three cooking classes, visit and tour biological reserves and thermal waters, learning about cocoa production, bird watching, butterflies, macaws, local produce, and more.  Hike to and swim in refreshing waterfall pools in the rainforest.  This trip is a perfect combination of true cultural and language immersion with a healthy sense of activity and exploration.

Itinerary Preview

  • Day 1 (Saturday)

    • Go Tico! staff picks you up from one of two Alajuela hotels or the international airport to start your adventure (or arrive directly to your home away from home in La Flor, Costa Rica)

      • La Paz Waterfall en route to the town

      • Tour La Flor

      • Settle into home stays

  • Day 2

    • Breakfast with home stays

    • Explore the community

    • Soccer Tournament day in La Flor: root for your favorite team!

    • Cooking with local families for elementary school fundraiser

    • Dinner with home stays

    • Wildlife rescue visit (Macaws, monkeys, and jaguars!)​

Pricing & Registration

Experience Fee (tiered pricing): $1,250pp (6+ travelers), $1,450pp (5 travelers), $1,650pp (4 travelers)

Experience dates: Flexible (Saturday to Sunday)

Appropriate for all travelers: families, individuals, couples, groups

Spanish level: beginner (with a great desire and motivation to learn!)

Fee includes:

  • Lodging for 8 nights (1 at a biological reserve; 7 in home stay)

  • Three meals per day for 7 days

  • Airport pick up and drop off (if required)

  • English classes (morning & afternoon), 4 days 

  • Bilingual hosts & coordinators, entire trip
