High School Virtual Learning Abroad

September 18 - October 16, 2021
November 6 - December 4, 2021
January 8 - February 5, 2022
February 12 - March 5, 2022
April 23 - May 21, 2022

2020 and 2021 have posed to be challenging years for students: quick transitions into almost an entire virtual school year has taken its toll (we know....we have kids, too!).  But it opened our eyes to new ways to learn.  It has definitely made our approach to learning more open and flexible! While now things are seeming to get a bit "back to normal", we wanted to offer a new way to learn: at home while abroad.

The opportunity is perfect for students with flexible high school learning environments where virtual (or strictly your abroad experience) is possible.  Why not spend a month of the school year in our beautiful, rural Costa Rican community, immersing yourself in language and culture while still keeping up with your education back home?  Connect to your U.S. coursework from the comfort of our cabins, overlooking grazing cows, palm trees and mountains.  Meet other like-minded students who are committed to their studies but who are ready for a bit of adventure.
Our community will provide you with a safe environment in which to study and be outdoors, enjoying time to play pick-up soccer, throw a frisbee or chat with local kids. You'll enjoy seeing toucans out your front porch, receiving three home-cooked meals each day from our family, and have the chance to help work our small vegetable farm if you feel like getting out and working the land.  You could also meet locals and work on your Spanish in our 300-person town.
Weekends will allow us to explore some of the regions beautiful, natural attractions through hiking, swimming and camping and two, half-day per week excursions will introduce you to local flora and fauna, an amazing local swimming hole, and nearby Arenal Volcano National Park.
Go Tico!'s Virtual Learning Abroad will provide any high school student the chance to turn distance learning into a life-changing international experience.
